Red rubber bracelets are worn and promoted as aids bracelets. The color red has been introduced as the color of the AIDS and HIV awareness campaign. Red bracelets are only one product that is used as an awareness tool in the fight for a cure. Gap has created an entire clothing line that revolves around the color red to raise awareness and funds for AIDS and HIV research. Wearing a red aids bracelet is comparable to wearing a red ribbon to show your support.

Not all red bracelets are AIDS and HIV awareness bracelets nor do the profits all go to research. Some rubber bracelets are sold purely as a fashion accessory with no connection to a cause. Some colors are used to promote a sports team or organization such as a college or university.
